The central areas of the map are taken up by a huge lake, and players must expand (and fight) around its. I got the same issue, the one that works within the subscribed mods directory has a random_maps folder with a .xml and a .xs file while the ones that don't work/appear on custom map selection just have a single .mythscn file, trying to open the file with notepad just shows a lot of Chinese text.
